A5 Japanese Wagyu Flat Iron
A5 Japanese Wagyu Flat Iron
Our A5 Wagyu Flat Iron is the best value A5 Wagyu cut we offer. In fact, it’s probably the best value A5 you’ll find online. Everything about this steak is amazing. It’s buttery, tender, and just explodes in your mouth with flavor. If you’re a fan of A5 Wagyu filets, but find A5 NY Strips/Ribeyes too rich, I would definitely give this one a shot.
The marbling is beautiful, but the fat is a little more nuanced and not overwhelming. The only real drawback to this steak is that it’s a little difficult to cook. If you are a beginner, I would highly recommend cooking this steak using the “KBBQ” method.
No, you don’t need a whole Korean BBQ grill for this. You can easily cook it in a pan. All I mean is slicing the steak into 8-10 1 oz pieces. (Slice it once in one direction, and then 3-4 times in the opposite direction… creating 8-10 pieces).
You can cook these smaller pieces as individual steaks. Try cooking the first piece 1 minute per side and then adjust for the rest. I have a lot of experience cooking steaks, and this is still my favorite method for this cut.
By cooking each piece individually, you get even more “crust” per bite. More importantly, you don’t have to cut it after it’s cooked. So when you bite into it, it explodes in your mouth.
I couldn’t recommend this steak highly enough. It’s the cut of A5 Wagyu that I could easily eat twice a day. Try it yourself and see why I think it’s so great.
